What Happens During A Therapy Session?
I will start by listening closely to what brings you to treatment. I want to know your dreams, frustration, experiences, confusion and hopes. I will listen deeply to everything you say and don’t say. I will empathize with you and get to know you – where you are and what you want for yourself.
With this as the starting point, we will explore the difficult emotions that are holding you back and we will enquire whether they are something new or whether they have always been there in some form or another.
I will guide you and show you how you can make the necessary changes to take your life to the next stage. Whether it be teaching you healthy coping techniques, setting adequate boundaries, or showing you how to best deal with complicated emotions.
I’ve tried and I’ve failed in the past. Why should it be any different this time?
This is the thought that many people have before reaching out for help. And it is a good question. The difference is that you will not be alone this time. You will have an ally by your side. Although self-reliance and independence can be very useful, achieving meaningful change is almost impossible without having someone by your side that cares about your goals as much as you do.
Having failed in the past is not a sign that you are weak or somehow deficient. It’s just a sign that you are trying to do something that is meaningful but difficult.
How do I get started?
To get started, you can contact me and tell me a bit about yourself, what you are struggling with and whether you have any questions for me.
After that, we can arrange a phone or skype where we can chat for a few minutes and we can find whether we’re a good fit to work together.
Depending on your needs and goals, we will start weekly therapy sessions or a coaching program. Therapy and coaching are distinctly different services including modalities and goals. Don’t worry I will hep you decide in the consultation call which is best fit for you.
I utilize a secure HIPPA compliant platform to conduct sessions via telehealth. This allows you to be in the comfort of your own home or another private location where you will not be distracted. My clients find this ideal due to not having to commute to sessions, being able to have their pet with them for comfort, and being able to stay in a relaxed or contemplative state following sessions instead of having to commute home.
